Damaged Volume 1 HM Ward 9780615796154 Books
When I decided to start reading the Arrangement series, I asked on H.M. Ward’s Facebook page to ask about the suggested reading order, since there are other books in the Ferro Family series. That’s how I found out about Damaged.Damaged is actually a full novel at 341 pages (for the paperback version), so it had more time to build up the story, rather than jumping right in like The Arrangement does, so it took me a little longer to get hooked on the story, but H.M. Ward did manage to hook me!
My one complaint, though, is that this is, I think, the 3rd book I’ve read where a girl hooks up (or almost hooks up) with a new guy, only to later find out that he’s her teacher. I’m not very creative, so I don’t have any better ideas, but I’m not hugely impressed with the recycling of this storyline.
However, I love H.M. Ward’s writing. She can write emotion and romance with a lot of humor thrown in. I loved seeing the interactions between Sidney and Peter, and honestly, they very seldomly failed to put a smile on my face.
Once I got toward the end, the story really picked up. I had a feeling something similar to what happened would happen, but I didn’t predict it full out. And just as it was really getting good, and I was completely invested in seeing what happened next, it ended. H.M. Ward is definitely the queen of the cliffhanger! Needless to say, I will definitely be reading the sequel because I have to see what happens next!

Damaged Volume 1 HM Ward 9780615796154 Books Reviews
I'm going to include Damaged 2 in this review because it's all really just one big story. I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this book or not, but it was really easy to like. The characters are well defined and funny, which makes it that much easier to get caught up into their story. The dialogue is wonderfully realistic and really shows the main characters personality.
I hate to say this is Sidney's story because I think Peter equally shined, but she is the main character and the story is told through her point of view. These books go into their struggles and harsh realities that have all but torn every bit of happiness from them. Sidney and Peter find each other and start a relationship that isn't allowed by the university and in time learn to help each other in ways that allow them to start living again. The second book is more comical and at times had me laughing pretty hard. The sexual tension is mucho grande and may nearly drive you mad, fair warning. Oh, and one of my favorite parts is when they find "Mr. Turkey" and Peter ties him up with a pink bra so he doesn't peck his eyes out. The cross dressing bird is hilarious. I know that doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the story, but it does and it'll make you laugh to boot.

This story really surprised me. As I began to read it I wasn't really sure I was going to get into the story and like the characters. Sidney and Peter were both a bit annoying with the back and forth friendship/ more than friendship feelings and innuendos. Peter sent tons of mixed signals and that isn't cool, but that is typical male behavior. As the story progressed, I liked how Sidney was more open and revealed parts of herself to Peter as friends. It also made sense that both characters form a solid friendship before delving into anything romantic. Sidney's demons were relentless and I felt so much sorrow for her because she had to turn her back on everything familiar to escape the cruel reality- when your own family those who are supposed to protect you don't who will? It took a lot of courage and conviction for Sidney to allow herself to feel something besides pain. Peter also had a painful past and I loved, loved how he didn't hesitate put Sidney above all. Oh man, the ending was phenomenal!! I can't wait until the next book!!!
Loved this story! All Sydney wanted to do was leave NJ and try to forget what happened to her. She succeeds to some point, gets a scholarship to a college in Texas but can never forget what her ex did to her. Sydney's roommate is always setting her up with dates. She goes to meet this blind date, and finds him hot! Sits down at his table and can't believe she is not scared. Only to find out he isn't the date. The date is much worse. Leaving the restaurant she runs into the hot guy. Hot guys name is Peter Granz. They go back to his apartment, things get hot & heavy, then he stops and makes her leave. Mortified, Sydney leaves. Next day at school, she finds out that her new boss that she is a TA for is none other then Dr. Peter Granz. They try to forget what happened, until her roommate once again gets her involved in a swing dance club. The professor sponsoring it is of corse Dr. Granz. They also happened to be the only two really experienced dancers. So now she is dancing and can forget her past for a little bit. Until one night, Sydney tells Peter how she feels, he does the same and they have to walk away. Her scholarship would be gone and Peter would lose his job & ruin his career. After a stressful night, leaving Peter she runs into none other then her ex Dean. They practically beat each other. Her brother Sam defends Dean. Peter defends Sydney. Peter takes Sydney home and tells her he resigned. Now Sam is busting on the door demanding she come home. Peter won't let her do it alone. So now they are off to NJ. Sydney is scared to death, but alteast she has someone on her side this time. Can't wait to dig into Damaged 2!
