Three Words and Kiss, by Sondra Kraak, is the third book in the Love that Counts series. Though it includes several characters who were introduced in the previous books in the series, Three Words and a Kiss can easily be read as a stand-alone novel. Even though I have not read the other books in the series, Three Words and a Kiss is so well-written and entertaining that I had no trouble following the story, engaging with the characters, and enjoying this book from start to finish. Having liked this book so much, I am certainly eager to read the other two books in the series, as well as other novels written by the talented Ms. Kraak.
In addition to the fabulous writing, this book moved me with its prominent themes of prejudice, compassion, and faith. Within this novel, the ugliness of racism, ignorance, and fear contrasts sharply with the restorative power of compassion and grace. Even in the face of opposition, those with kind hearts remain generous and faithful depriving prejudice of its power.
I was also surprised and delighted by the prominence the author gave to a strong, female character, named Samantha. Samantha consistently chooses acts of compassion and service rather than submitting to cultural expectations and family obligations. Her sincere desire to do the right thing more than to do the expected thing was inspiring.
Within this book, there were several significant scenes of clean, vulnerable, and passionate romance. More than being simply fun to read, the romantic moments in this book also served an important role in the story fostering the emotional and spiritual development of the characters as they grappled with their own motives, desires, insecurities, expectations, and fears.
Three Words and a Kiss is a wonderful piece of historical fiction. It is rich with relevant themes and thought-provoking ideas. It is romantic, emotionally stirring, faith-filled, and ultimately uplifting. It is a novel that I will long remember for the lasting impact that it has had on my thoughts and upon my heart. This novel was engaging, meaningful, and a pleasure to read. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

I really enjoyed the lead characters, the overcoming they both did, the plot and the way all was resolved. I have really enjoyed this series and perhaps this was the best. Hope this author will bring more good books to print.
I love this series! The writing is inspiring, the subject matter true to period and the stories interesting Cam and Sam provide a compelling case of opposites filling the holes in our individual personalities and lives. Especially appreciate a great editing job ~ makes the read that much better!
This book was sooooo adorable! I loved the easy way Cam acted around Sam even when he was roiling with confusion and annoyance on the inside; and the way he took care of her even when she was in his way. Sam was a ticking time bomb most of the time, but her compassion and love of serving others counterbalanced her spontaneity, albeit without logic sometimes. These two together just did my heart so much good to read a clean, fun, and butterflies-in-my-stomach love story.
If you have read the other books in the Love that Counts series, Three Words And a Kiss will not disappoint. And if you haven’t read the others, it stands alone and you can easily pick it right up without any other back story. A timeless and touching story about the power of God to change hearts and heal wounds.
I loved this book! It is well written and really draws the reader in and makes you care about the characters. It has a Christian message but is not “preachy.” I’m already eagerly anticipating the next book in the series!
This book got better and better and amazing!!!! Samantha's spontaneity and quickness to speak her mind, drove Cam crazy. He was a control friek and wanted everyone to behave calmly. Good luck with Sam around. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is the author's best yet! Please keep them coming. I can't wait for David and Lark to grow up and hear their story.
The headlines had read, "Klein Heiress Aids Immigrants", "one of Seattle's most ineligible heiresses", prompting Samantha's prominent family to strongly suggest that she take an extended "vacation" from her misguided sense of philanthropy.
